CANDLE RAW MATERIALS: HOW WE SELECT THEM
The quality of a candle is not visible at first glance: it is built well before the first flame, in the choice of raw materials. Wax, fragrance, wick, container — each component influences the burn, the scent diffusion and the final result. At MA CONCEPTION, a French manufacturer of white label candles, selecting raw materials is a step we never delegate. Here is how we choose each ingredient.

THE 4 RAW MATERIALS OF A QUALITY CANDLE
The wax
It makes up most of the volume and determines how the candle burns. We favour plant-based waxes — soy, rapeseed, coconut — for their clean burn (no black smoke or residue) and their excellent fragrance release. Each wax is judged on three criteria: burn stability, scent fidelity, and consistency from one batch to the next. Seewhich wax to choose.
The Grasse fragrance
We work with a partner perfumer in Grasse, the world capital of perfumery. Each fragrance is selected for how it behaves in the wax (cold and hot scent throw, stability when heated) and for its IFRA and REACH compliance. The same standard applies to ourcustom room fragrances.
The wick
A poorly calibrated wick ruins even the best wax: it mushrooms, smokes or tunnels. We select untreated cotton wicks, precisely calibrated to the container diameter, the type of wax and the fragrance load — for a stable flame and no soot.
The container
Glass, ceramic, metal or concrete: each material conveys its own world and must be compatible with the formulation. We select quality containers suited to your positioning, and systematically check their heat resistance. See our guide tochoosing a container.
OUR QUALITY CONTROL, FROM SOURCING TO PRODUCTION
Selecting good raw materials is not enough: their behaviour together still has to be validated. Our quality control unfolds in three stages.
Before any production run, we test the full combination directly in your container.
We produce samples that you approve before production is launched.
Labelling and safety statements are handled for legal sale in France and across Europe.
